Rock Eagle 4-H Center: Environmental Education

Family Adventure Community Program

The Family Adventure Community Program holds its sessions on Saturdays and is open to all ages (unless otherwise stated). Sessions include time to visit the Natural History Museum.

Each Family Adventure:

  • begins at 9:30 a.m. (unless otherwise stated);
  • meets at the Natural History Museum;
  • lasts roughly two hours;
  • costs $5.00 for 13 years and older, $3.00 for 5-12 years old, and children under 5 years are free; and
  • requires pre-registration.

Annual Program Passes available!

  • $20.00 for 13 years and older.
  • $12.00 for 5-12 years old.
  • FREE for 4 years old and under.
  • Entrance into all 5 Family Adventure programs during 2010.
  • Annual Pass cost saves one free session per family member!

November 21st - Night Life...It's Not So Scary!
Join Rock Eagle staff for a night hike through our woods and discover the various night life! Afterwards, enjoy a campfire with hot cocoa, song, and story time! Begins at 7:00 p.m.

corn snake March 20th, Reptiles 101-Explore the wonderful world of reptiles with Rock Eagle staff! Learn how to identify common local critters, dispel those pesky myths, and perhaps touch a turtle or a snake. Start time: 9:30 am

May 15th, Incredible Insects- Discover the amazing world of insects and their importance to our natural world. You never know what six-legged creatures you may find on your exploration! Start time: 9:30 am

canoe July 17th, Canoe Rock Eagle Lake!- Explore Rock Eagle Lake by canoe! See if you can sneak up on our local great blue heron or if you can catch a glimpse of the turtles basking on a log. Anyone eight years old and up are welcome on this session. Start time: 9:30 am
sampling aquatic insects September 18th, Watershed Wonders-Wander through a Piedmont watershed and discover how humans can impact local water bodies. Sample aquatic organisms in a stream and discuss how watershed assessment can help monitor the health ofour groundwater and water bodies. Come prepared to get wet while exploring in our streams! Start time: 9:30 am
