Rock Eagle 4-H Center: Environmental Education

Saturday @ the Rock

Saturday at the Rock is open to participants of all ages. Each scheduled Saturday we will host a program on a different topic of interest.

Program Information:

  • Includes a visit to the newly renovated Rock Eagle Natural History Museum;
  • Programs are two hours (unless otherwise stated);
  • Admission ranges from $3.00-$10.00;
  • Pre-registration required.

February 17th, High Ropes Adventure

Rock Eagle is opening its high ropes course for the ultimate mental and physical challenge! Climb the tower to the top of the zip line and feel the rush as your soar through the air.

Time: 10am-1pm

Cost: $10

Open to Ages 11+

March 17th, Rock Eagle Seed Swap

Gardeners from all over can network, swap seeds and share information about gardening. Learn about the benefits of seeds saving, and the importance of pollinators.

Time: 9:30am-12:00pm

Cost: Free, Donations Appreciated

Recommended Age: 16+

April 21st, Calls of the Wild

Take an animal adventure at Rock Eagle 4H Center! Explore native wildlife through calls and markings.

Time: 9:30-11:30AM

Cost: $3/person

Recommended Age: 6-11

May 19th, My Wet and Wild Watershed

Tadpoles, and dragonflies, and crayfish oh my! Join the Rock Eagle Environmental Education team as we discover what kinds of organisms live in the lake and stream. Cool off and maybe get a little messy!

Time:9:30-11:30AM

Cost: $3/person

Recommended Age: 6-15

June 23rd, The Wonderful World of Reptiles

Crawl, slither, or hop on over to Rock Eagle 4-H Center and explore the wonderful world of reptiles and amphibians.

Time: 9:30-11:30AM

Cost: $3/person

Recommended Age: 6-15

May 26th & July 21st, Sailing 101

Designed for beginners who want to learn the basics of sailing. Participants will get to explore the lake in one of our Sailboats.

Time: Varies

Cost: $5/person

Recommended Age: 10+

August 4th, Back to School Bash

Fun for the whole family. Make a splash at Rock Eagles back to School Bash! Take an exciting trip down the water slide, catch some evening rays on the pool deck, or float with friends!

Lifeguards will be on duty.

Cost: $5/person

Recommended Age: All Ages

 

 

August 18th, The Basics of Water Bath Canning

Join us as we learn about food preservation from an expert!

Time: 9:30-11:30AM

Cost: $7/person

Recommended Age: 11 and Up

 

September 22nd, Into the Hive

Learn about bee biology, pollination, and sample Rock Eagle Honey.

Time: 9:30-11:30AM

Cost: $3/person

Recommended Age: 7-16

September 29th, Family Fishing

Celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on Rock Eagle Lake with family and friends. No fishing permit required. Don’t know how to fish? No problem! Rock Eagle Environmental Educators will be on site to help bait hooks, and share knowledge about the sport.

Enjoy games, crafts, and the chance to meet some of Rock Eagle’s animal ambassadors. 

Advanced registration is required. Limited number of fishing poles will be available, so experienced fishermen are encouraged to bring their own.

Cost: $3/child, Adults Free

October 20th, Canoe Rock Eagle Lake

Join Rock Eagle environmental educators for a guided canoe trip around Rock Eagle Lake. Enjoy an active morning with family as we explore the history of the grounds and search for native wildlife.

Time: 9:30-11:30AM

Cost: $3/person

Recommended Age: 10+

November 10th, Rock Eagle Hike

Experience local history with a guided Hike to the Rock Eagle Mound.
